Duplicate vendor bill warning for Odoo 16

Small Odoo module that flags vendor bills and products that look like duplicates without blocking the user

Accounting teams sometimes enter the same supplier bill twice. This module posts a warning in the bill's chatter listing other bills with the same reference, and warns when a new product name already exists.

The problem

Duplicate bills led to double payments, and duplicate products cluttered the catalogue.

What I built

On save, the module looks for other vendor bills with the same reference and posts a formatted note listing up to 15 matches. A product name change triggers a non-blocking warning with existing products of the same name.

  • Warns instead of blocking, so legitimate repeats are still possible.
